At least, I was out today, making some shots with the 100mm. On my 139 it's a very small and nice to handle lens. I will have to collect some rolls of film before I will send them to my laboratory. The results will need some weeks.

Another, probably, minor factor/thought to throw into this mud-puddle regarding the Contax 100mm f3.5 is that Yashica never made a 100mm in the C/Y mount -- excluding macro lenses. (They never made an 85mm either which I consider even weirder.) I really like a 100mm for portraits over an 85mm or 135mm, and I'm probably not the only one. And Zeiss was undoubtedly considering the potential sales to Yashica users when they were deciding on lens manufacturing.
I certainly would never consider the 100mm f2.0, but the f3.5? Sure.

On pricing and replacements... The 1987 dealer's price list shows the Net/Retail price on the Contax 100mm 3.5 Sonnar T* would have been $273/$455, with the 100 f/2 at $615/$1000 USD.

On the price rises, sites like Japan Camera Hunter and 35mmc definitely have more impact than this little corner of the webs. Note that dpreview features an item from 35mmc each week and now has both alt lens and film photography forums. All these are riding on the back of a definite increase in interest for film photography, something I see all the time here in my East London location.
On the upside; there are still some great bargains to be had, with care, as not everyone knows enough to describe gear properly. Andsome cameras are decidedly unfashionable but were expensive enough to get into enthusiast kits like the Nikon F-301 or Olympus OM-40.

It took some time to get an MM version at a price I would pay but was worth it - it’s a nice lens. It also fitted. a weird want for an exactly doubling lens line-up of 25/2.8, 50/1.7, 100/3.5 & 200/4. A set that can be carried all day in a modest sized bag with a 159MM or similar.

I like the notion of that simple doubling of focal lengths. That group of lenses plus, as you say, a 159 or the like, will surely cover 85% of situations without hurting your shoulder.
The one thing I'd be tempted to add would be a Zeiss Mutar to give you that extra reach beyond 200mm with virtually no loss in optical quality.
