Good Evening,
I've bought a Lens with other Yashica gear, and there was a damaged, silver FX-D with it included. The Dilemma here - the Hotshoe is damaged, for sure, physically.
What is more worse - the Film Advance Lever too, means it's missing a part on the top, and also loose. The leatherette needs replacement.
But what is good otherwise - besides this, optically really good still, lightseals are intact, shutter works, shuttertimes looking good. Viewfinder is very clean. So, i can't put it into the trash...but how to fix that hotshoe and film advance lever thing? I do use cameras, i am not a camera mechanic. I guess, i won't get another spare FX-D in silver, to fix my FX-D...

Usually there are useful donor parts that won't require much effort to remove and replace onto other cameras. I can pass on a few of my own experiences...
I had a fully working Contax 167MT with an optional AA adapter attached that had horribly corroded battery contacts and bad wiring. If I had new/replacement contacts and a short strand of 24AWG braided wire, I probably could have fixed the adapter - but - those contacts never show up as parts for sale. The alternatives were to either buy a used bottom plate (not an adapter) for $19, or a non-working 167 for $22. I got the dead 167 and removed the bottom plate to swap it out for the damaged adapter. That means I had a spare film door (used on a later-purchased 167 that had a dented/bent door), and I still have the rest of the parts if needed for other 167 or ST bodies.
I also got a camera-lot that had 3 FX-D bodies and a dead FX winder in the box, with 2 of the bodies not working. That gave me 2 spare bottom/top plates, spare advance levers, spare rewinds, spare backs, spare battery holders, spare gold bottom contacts, etcetra... Those became parts donors for 3 other working FX-D's I got later, for body parts and levers/knobs, a Contax 139 (rear door) and it's winder (gold contacts and battery box parts), a working FX-2 without a battery holder, and the remainder can still be used for mirror box covers, mirrors, front mounting rings, and more.
Once you strip a body bare, you might also be able to sell off the frame as scrap brass if there's someone near you that buys it in small amounts. The last time I sold some, I think I got $1-2 a pound for red brass. Stripped off springs, screws, gears, and all the other small stuff can be useful on lots of things - not just cameras.

Thanks for both of you - very appreciated. I'd see, to post pictures of the damaged part(s) later this weekend. It makes me just sad, to see a dysfunctional, non-working Yashica...
Best, Marc

Best, Marc If it's easier, you can get a copy of the assembly manual from learncamerarepair.com/downloads/pdf/Yashica-FXD-Quartz-assembly.pdfJust identify the parts from drawings.

Much thanks, Peter! Part No. 8, 9 is being damaged, according to the Hotshoe. Part No. 26, 25, 20 & 21 are being missing from the Film Advance Lever, it seems. From the Lever, there is only part 22, 23 on my FX-D, it does have play about 5-8mm up & down, this Film advance Lever....
best, Marc

I have all the bits except the trim that goes on the top of the lever screw. That tends to get damaged when it's removed. I usually use a piece of leatherette in its place. I can send you a piece cut to fit.
You can have the bits for the cost of postage and any Paypal fees. PM me your address and I'll find out the postage costs.

Hi Guys,
as promised, here is the picture of my (silver) damaged FX-D, as it was coming with some other Yashica gear. Sorry, just a quick & dirty smartphone shot.
Any help is being much appreciated, thanks. As you can imagine, there are parts (perhaps even screws) being missing from the Film advance Lever, it's only fixed with this screw into the Middle, and does have about 5-8mm ca. horizontal play - it's further being completely being loose, one can't
advance the Film with that. And there you can see also the way bend, damaged Hotshoe. I don't know, what happened with this FX-D, and it's previous User. It was basically free, when i've bought my 3rd FR1.

Hi Marc,
As I said, I have all the bits. Just pm me your address and we can sort something out. You will need to take the top plate off though to fix the hotshoe.

I haven't read something new from Peter, but into the End, it's lying just around. I'm shooting my FX3 & FR1...
A good Week. I am curing out my influenza.
