I've always assumed that there was a Yashica Samurai Z2-L, not only because there was a Z-L, but because there are lots of websites that say it is so. But I can't find an actual picture of one.
Can anyone verify that they have actually seen a Z2-L first hand -- or at least a picture of one?

Check out Ebay Item: 123974780697 from a seller in Japan. A couple were sold on European Ebay sites recently.

My WIP list shows all the Z2's were produced in 1990, with one difference - there were no transparent 'L' models. I don't know if any of the left-handed versions came with color trim options either, but I assume it's possible if the color striping wasn't on the main body shell itself, and only around the lens ring and the secondary parts.
EDIT to add: Yeoouch! $883.08 on that ebay listing...? Sorry, but that seems really excessive!

Thanks for all that. Yes, it does exist, but slightly unusual in marking.
And I agree, $883 is a little much -- but as we know there are a lot of CRAZY YASHICA-philes out there.

What I find interesting is that there are a LOT of Z2 Samurais showing up on EBAY lately, and very few Z samurais. The Z2 has fewer features, however, compared to the Z. It is basically a stripped down Z -- even though the electronics are the same. One innovative individual simply drilled holes in the back panel of a Z2 to access the additional features of the Z. Plus, I suspect that more Z's were made than Z2's, so I don't quite understand why more Z2's are showing up as compared to Z's.

I suppose it might be that the fuller-featured Z has a more loyal user base and they hang onto them whereas the 'Z-lite' Z2s would be less of a wrench to sell... I've noticed a similar situation with a reduction in the number of Yashica FRIs for sale but an increased availability of the simpler, auto-only FRIIs.

One of the strangest parts of this is that Yashica dropped a couple of features -- without dropping the internal mechanics & electronics -- and dropped the price only a couple of bucks. The only other change is that they added color to the black control buttons.
But I've seen other companies do the same sort of crazy thing.
