I suppose these are technically rangefinders, so I'll ask the question here... According to the manual: "When the red dot on Shutter Release Lock Ring is set to the triangle, the shutter is locked." There's no specific detail of which position is 'locked', and there's no pictures to identify it either.
In my case, I don't see a red dot, but 2 black ones. I've cleaned the ring as best I can, but there's no red to be seen afterwards. Although everything - including the meter - seems to work as expected, the shutter button seems to fire with the ring twisted to either of the 2 available positions, so there's no way to tell which of the positions really is the 'locked' one. Before I go further, I'm hoping someone can tell me which dot should be the red one. It sounds exactly the same, and of the same slightly delayed duration in both positions, so there's no obvious clues to help.
I do know there were a couple of versions of these over the years and I'm pretty sure that mine is the 1st version, and I also assume the manual that came with it matches the camera version.

Thanks matthiasausk ... I'm debating on whether I should open the case to see what's wrong, or just leave it as is. It's unlikely that I'll try to run a roll of film through it soon - so there's no pressing issue with wasting film if it doesn't lock. If your's is working and you could confirm the position when you have a chance, that would be great. Unfortunately the manual isn't in color, and like you, all the photos I found in a couple of web searches only showed black dots.

Look here: Camera is in locked position now. Red dot and triangle. And ... at this camera (REVUE mini star, OEM version of the Atoron) there is indeed a black dot and a red dot. In the photo, it is not easy to see, but in reality, the dot is really red.

Hi,
Hopefully this will help...
Locked position
Of course, it's a very different story for the Atoron Electro.
