I just thought you might like to look at one of the more unusual Contax/Yashica accessories - the Diopter (sic) Lens Selector. I don't believe these were ever sold to the public but were available to leading dealerships.

They are incredibly helpful if, like me, you now have to use spectacles - being able to select the correct dioptre for the eyepiece ensures proper focus and if you share your precious Yashica or Contax with a partner, they too can have a bespoke eyepiece. They range from +3 to -5 and came in two slightly different selector sets. Of course, they became obsolete when later Contax models incorporated variable dioptres into the pentaprism assembly but they still had a role with all Yashica SLRs. As far as I'm aware, they never issued a Selector with rectangular dioptres such as are used on some of the cameras.

Interesting but very ungainly!
I can only imagine these being used in static set-ups with multiple users, things like microscopes.

I've seen variations of this with different camera brands (Nikon, Leica are two). And you're right, it was a dealer accessory for selling the correct strength to the customer. Nikon even had one for the viewfinder screens in the F and F2 cameras.
