I came across an old Minister III in a cupboard the other day. It was in its original case and has its lens cap so the selenium is still good. Actually, the camera as a whole looks like new! The light meter seems to be accurate, shutter fiers well etc but I’m having a bit of trouble focusing. The ring will not move all the way to infinity, but as I try the patch in the viewfinder seems to distort the image - surely as it focuses further away the focus should become crisper... is this normal? It’s my first time with a rangefinder so it might just be me! I’ve put a roll of expired Agfa in it to see how the images come out... I’ll get it CLA’d in any case, as the image is never perfectly aligned. I think it must have belonged to my grandfather...

Welcome to the Forum, mdbp. Perhaps the reason your Minister III is having trouble reaching infinity is that something in the rangefinder mechanism has detached or gotten loose, and that is what is causing the distortions in the finder. I wouldn't try to force the focus, as you could do some permanent damage. Might be the reason the camera got put in the cupboard in the first place. I hope you can get it fixed. Try Russ at camerarefurb.com/, or any reputable repair shop near you. PF
