Hello Yashikons,
I have a few Half 17 pieces. None of them is opening the shutter when pressed. Or Im doing sth wrong (I could not imagine that, this camera should be Idiot-proof handling) or all of them are broken. They are all Rapid models, testing without the film.
Please your input,
Cheers

I do not have the Half-17, but e.g. a 72-E and a Mimy. With both 72-E shutter works proerly without film. There are cameras, which fire only with film (don't know, if the Half-17 belong sto those) - you should check, if it works with film - if yes: then there should be some kind of pin, which is held down be the film, if you press this pin, then the shutter should work.
Edit: Just found out, that I do own a half-17 rapid (including 2 film cans ...): It fires without film. So yours seem to be defective.

Seeing as that is a selenium powered shutter, Alex, I don't think you'll be bringing it back to life. It's basically aperture priority, with the shutter speeds being programmed via the meter (which none of them work anymore). I didn't realize that model used the Rapid cassettes, thought that only a few German brands used them. If you get an Agfa that uses the Rapid cassettes, you can use whatever you got with your Half 17's.

thanx for the explanation. yes there is a selenium powered shutter, it's weird that I have 3 pieces and that on all the cam's same fault. However, two of them are EE models and I see light metering in the viewfinder. So it could be something with he rapid film cartridge when in the body. Now I just have to find a cartridge or to find the right sport to press (like on many things..)

anyone: what power should be generated by this selenium cell to operate shutter? I have disassembled one and I read 0,35v in normal light
