Marc's thread about the Contax RX 2000 anniversary colour variants got me thinking about Kyocera's dabbling over the years with bespoke camera colours.
(No false Photoshopping of colours were used in these images ..... Honest!)
Pull up a chair, ...... oh! I see you already have! Then grab a tea, coffee or Bud and enjoy a little journey through the wonders of Yashica colour variants ......
Did it all start with the humble Y16?
Then later, more conservatively with black and silver versions of 60's Rangefinders and 70's SLRs? We've all seen those.
Actually, come to think of it, it might have started with a couple of colour variations for their 50's TLRs ... but, of course that would be Yashima and Yashica rather than Kyocera
Lovely in Pink?
Moving on a few decades ..... the 1980's brought us solid red, yellow, blues, whites, black and silver Point and Shoot compacts (e.g. MF-3) .... easy to do in plastic bodies. The 1990's gave us those more subtle champagne's and pearl's of the Campus's and Zoomate's.
Everton or Liverpool? Man City or Man United ....... make your choice!
Gold ..... for the price of Silver .... Ha-Harrrr! Me Hearties! ....... Zoomate's in pastel metallic colours ......
OK ...... what Samurai would be seen dead in these late 80's battle colours ........ did Lego have a hand in this?
As outlandish as this must have seemed in it's day (or even now?) ...... come the digital era, Kyocera went CRAZY ....... CRAZY ........
Starting with a modest selection of SL300R colour choices .....
.... they just couldn't stop there could they ......... Hmmm! Love the Lime green - yellow one!
Next ..... why not pander to those who are in touch with the elements (cue the joss sticks) ...... Earth in Wood, Fire in Goldstone, Water in Onyx and Air in Agate ..... NICE!
Milky, Milky anyone? I kid you not ...... that was how the translation came out ...... Milky Pink, Milky Blue and Milky Yellow
Hey Boys ..... Summer is here ........... time for some dodgy sexism ....... no .... no honest...... I'm not making this up ..... they really did produce these add-on stickers for the Sl300R and SL400R .....
Sommerflirt ....... I love it ..... Ha! Ha!
Not so sure about this one ......... that's one fine set of Gnashers there .........
Well ...... on my chart I managed to get these and the rest of the "Easter and Summer" collection ....... and something they called "Classics" ...... Uhhh?
Classic? ...... Nearly?
Yes ....... I like it .......
Crazy Man! I'll take two .......
OK, OK .... your tea or coffee has gone cold by now, your Bud is half finished ... that's if you are still awake ........ there are so many moreabominations .... sorry ..... variants I've left out, but I have to stop somewhere!
Wait! .... No! There are two camera variants I wanted Kyocera to produce .... but they never did .... I thought I'd share them with you ........
That's all folks! Cheers, Bob.
