Hi marc,
Because of the crazy prices being asked for these special edition RX bodies, I never bought one. Similar full-body colours were also available on the TVSIII.
Although some of the illustrated colour combinations were simply awful (cobalt blue body with bright green rubbers !!) - there were at least 2 with matching body and rubbers which looked really nice: one white, one red. There was also a RX Titan which had a Titanium finish to the metal and a champagne colour for the rubbers which looked great back in 2000 and I have to admit, did tempt me (in combination with the titanium Anniversary 45mm f2.8 Tessar) momentarily but I'm glad I resisted as over time the champagne leathers/rubbers started to turn brown around the edges - not a good look.
I have a photo of the white and Titan as well as one of the multi-coloured ones (sky blue body and olive green grips - Yuk!) but none of the images is mine so copyright permission will be an issue. I'm pretty sure I got two of them from a European seller on Ebay but it was at least 2 years ago and I can't recall who it was.

The RX Anniversary 2000 edition were offered in 7 body colours, 3 logo colours and 3 logo fonts! The customer had the choice of the combinations on ordering one. The colours were (to quote Contax .... or at least a translation from Japanese!) ..... Forest Green, Elegant Rose, Silver, Night Sky Blue, Black, Pearl Stone and Silky Metallic. I have only ever seen font colours of black, white and red (Elegant Rose?) and Fonts as all capitals or first letter capital on the word "Contax" and a further variation of what looks like bold or regular on the characters "2000 Jahrhundert-wende". (Edit: from one of marc's links, I see that the owner could omit the words 2000 Jahr etc as an option also.) I was not aware that there was a "Cobalt blue" model offered - I guess that must be the wonderfully named "Night Sky Blue"? I was told by the UK Contax manager at the time, that ..... "There was little interest in these variations in either the UK or the US markets ..... however the Japanese market suited the exclusiveness down to the ground!" Here are some sample mock ups taken from a Contax news leaflet .... and an extract from my chart showing a few more I got from somewhere ..... There are no doubt other colour combinations "out there" ..... the above last image just shows 5 actual models I found on the internet when I was doing the Contax Chart .... along with the 2 of the 3 mock-ups from the Contax leaflet. I have never seen any of these variants in the flesh. Cheers, Bob.

Hi Bob,
The reference to Japanese interest is spot on; the only times I've seen the colour combinations offered for sale as used items has been on mapcamera's website and even they were still asking well over double the usual prices for a mint RX. However, the single coloured variants do pop up on Ebay quite regularly from one of two European sellers but I've seen the same ones (identical serial numbers) appearing which, given their previous asking prices, will continue that way for a long time to come... Now, if they dropped their prices to about 10-15% above a mint, boxed RX, they might actually, finally sell one to a collector with more money than sense.
This one from Russia I found on Google Images (they have several different versions of the camera including the white one mentioned earlier):

That´s the one I linked first, Graham - asking price translates to around 850 Euros ... just got permission from a Korean seller to user his imagery of a olive version - still waiting for reply from that Russky ...
That champagne/bordeaux version on Bob´s posting is looking great ... for a ladies cam ;-)

Ariel's 2nd shot possibly shows why there was little interest in UK or USA ...... black lenses look odd on the coloured bodies!

I have owned limited production Zeiss Planars and Distagons in gold and platinum along with a Planar and Tele-Tessar in drab green (matching a 137MD) plus the odd 'titanium' 45mm Tessar. Some of those would work with the coloured RX's though I never had the chance to try them out with one.

I could understand a limited edition with some new and no so common colors, but apart from that what other valuable things will justify to pay those prices for bodies and lenses?. The champagne colored one from the picture above was labeled with a price of 1999 Euros... it comes with a Panda attached to it?, with that money I could buy a Linhof Technika without one piece made of plastic. I do not like to compare two different worlds of cameras but just wanted to put things in perspective because it makes no sense at all, at least for me.

I agree Arial ...... and apparently so did the UK and USA camera buying public ....... but the Japanese just love this sort of stuff I bet the coloured cameras performed no better than a black or silver one! Maybe a Forest Green one would suite a fully camouflaged Birder ...... if they were prepared to camo-up their lenses as well Ah! Well! it would be a dull world if we all liked exactly the same stuff!

I am still not convinced, that all of those cameras were brought into the market by KYOCERA. The shown one from shphoto.de shows the text "Jahrhundertwende", meaning "centennial", but (even it was a centennial, too) in 2000 the "millenial" was celebrated. Maybe somewhere in a dark cellar, wherever in the world, someone was sitting and engraving silly things ...
(and yes, I know that 2001 was the true millenial)

Maybe somewhere in a dark cellar, wherever in the world, someone was sitting and engraving silly things ... (and yes, I know that 2001 was the true millenial) I think the point I was trying to emphasise in my 1st post on this thread was that all of them probably don't exist. It was the fact that the customer "could" order different combinations of what was on offer i.e 7 different body colours, 7 grip colours, 3 Logo colours, 3 font mixes and include/omit options … meant that it was incredibly unlikely that every combination was ever chosen. With a little hindsight from internet search engines, it appears that very few combinations of the RX 2000 were chosen, but who knows what will come up for sale in the future! Kyocera seem to have liked offering Anniversary & Limited Edition cameras and went particularly crazy when it came to Yashica/Kyocera branded cameras. I blame it all on the Y16 back in 1958 or maybe even the Yashica 44 in 1957! Don't get me started on the Finecam SL300R & SL400R - nightmare! If you would like to see some more RX combos that actually exist (other than the two shown above) try Gokurakudo Cameras, there were 4 bodies they had but it looks like 1 has been sold.

SHPhoto is some kind of Joke, for real. They do still sell old C/Y Gear, mostly used, but at horrible Prices, always. It's even way cheaper often, to buy directly into Japan, and import the Gear yourself, than buying at this german Seller.
