I snapped the film advanced lever on my Yeshiva Electro 35 Is there a way to repair this without replacement parts?

Welcome to the Forum pleef though I'm sorry it's under such sad circumstances!
Looking at your photos, I fear the news is not good. The shaft that snapped (how did you manage it!?) looks like it's the load-bearing part of the advance lever assembly so it looks pretty terminal. You could try using a two part metal glue like Araldite Rapid Steel to re-attach the shaft but I doubt it would hold for very long although I have used it to good effect on an aperture activating lever but the load for that is less than would be experienced by a wind-on lever. Unless someone else here has the answer, try the Araldite or some similar compound.
Otherwise, you'll need to try for a 'spares or repair' donor body to get a replacement shaft; it's also possible that a good camera repair shop might have spares that would do the job though the cost of repair would probably be more than the cost of a replacement Electro 35.

Welcome to the Forum, Pleef, and my sympathy for your plight. It looks like the shaft was weakened by a crack, and then it just kept getting bigger until the end twisted off. Pretty much impossible to get the ends to match up for a glue job like biggles suggested. So I guess you'll be looking for a part, or donor body. Tell us where you are located, and someone close may have something to help you with.

Thanks guys, I am in London UK, but I am happy to find a "faulty" Electro 35 on eBay. Or I may just buy a replacement... they're beautiful cameras!

I'm just sorry we could not bring you better news; a replacement Electro 35 is probably the best answer but I would counsel you to keep your existing one as a potential donor for spares should the unfortunate need arise one day. It is a great little camera with a lovely lens. if you ever wish to share your experiences with the Electro 35 or some shots taken with it (or just let us know that you're back shooting with one!), you know where you will have a ready audience...

Be on the lookout for older Yashica models too. Though they usually don't have automation, and their selenium meters have likely died (if they have one), the lenses are still first rate, and the cameras in general are easier to work on.

What other Yeshica rangefinders would you recommend? What is the LYNX-5000 like?

It was an upgrade from the selenium cell meter system on the Lynx 1000. There are two versions of the Lynx 5000. One takes a single 625 alkaline battery, while the 5000E version has a readout in the viewfinder for Over/Under, and takes two 640 cells. You can find out more on the Yashica Guy site at www.yashica-guy.com/document/chrono2.htmlPF

Thanks. Btw, which "older Yashica models" should I look out for?

Mainly the pre-G Electro series, non-battery powered models, the 35 to the J. Take a look at the Yashica Guy site, he lists them all with a run down on their features. Most have no meter, and if they do, it is a selenium cell that probably does not work anymore, though I have a Minimatic-C that takes perfect exposures (or at least it used to).
