I don't wish to play killjoy, folks ... but my German forum pals on "Aphog" just told me that such "Behördenkameras", i. e., converted half-frame SLRs used by the authorities, generally retain the original frame spacing, the cost and effort for an adjustment by far exceeding the benefits...
So--let's knock on wood, hoping that Barry's FX-3 will actually give him the 72+ frames we've been expecting!

I just wanted to revive this thread because I now have the answer on the frame spacing from finally running a roll of film during the last weekend. I knew from playing with film in the gate that it was not winding a full frame, as noted before. However when using the body it seemed that that the frame counter was not quite counting at half the expected rate and was concerned that I might be getting overlaps or multiple exposures. Well, I was getting slight overlaps, which maybe isn't so bad when considering the kind of aesthetic I was interested from half frame. It does however give me a problem with commercial processing - where the cuts fall when cutting the film into strips becomes a major problem... Obviously the lack of a meter gives an added risk as I've not practised 'Sunny 16' photography for ages. I actually downloaded an app and referred to it a few times but found myself really enjoying this little camera with it's ML 50mm f/2. The cropped field of view was a little tight so I may get an ML35 to give something closer to a 'normal' field of view. So finally some results - you can see the over lap which leads to some of the scans having a little bit of a third frame on them.

Another three 'frames' I didn't complete the film as i was unsure how well the camera was working, but I will give it another spin in the near future now that know what to expect. Quite pleased with the colours and the quality of the scans too from my processor too, they can be quite variable that way.

Good colors and exposures there, Barry. You're right about shortening the focal length. It's the same effect one gets when using a full frame lens on an APS-C sensor in digital photography, so a 35mm would be closer to normal. When you get your films processed, ask them not to cut the film. That way you are not at their mercy when it comes to frame cuts.

Hi,
I own a normal FX-3 (not a super 2000) half frame. The specs are basicly the same; fixed 1/125, masks. no meter.
