Came across this awesome camera last week. Today the thriftstore still hadn't sold it. Tried it out and was sold.. I was, and the Chinon too :-) Chinon CE Memotron Chinon Auto Reflex f2,8 28mm with nice metal hood. Chinon Auto Reflex f4 70 - 220mm with B+W filter. I wasn't going to buy yet another mount you see..........

Nice acquisition! By coincidence, earlier today I was looking at an old photo magazine on Ebay which has a review of the Memotron as one of its major features. Enjoy your new kit!

That's called: Gaining momentum..... :-) I saw a Yashica AX for sale over here in Holland, but nah... another mount, too expensive, don't need it.... etc... Paid less than two tenners for this lot. :-) Pretty good deal, I would say. I like the fact that it uses a needle in the viewfinder as a pointer for the lightmeter.

I like the fact they included some fresh veggies with the deal. ;-)

"To buy something for an Apple and an Egg" is an expression used when you bought something very cheap. I had to add my veggies to be able to call the Chinon stuff an Apple and Egg... I used the same picture here....

"Für 'nen Appel und ein Ei"--same saying here in Germany. But what's the deeper meaning of substituting apple and egg with paprika, zucchini and aubergine? Curiouser and curiouser...

The title of my Dutch topic was: A paprika, zucchini, aubergine AND an apple and an egg.. :-) So there :-) I went for some groceries, and came back with a camera and two lenses.. Oh well.. I'm not gonna try to make this M42 system as complete as I have done with my Yashica system. ( In the process of buying another FX-1 btw.... :-) ) These M42 lenses are pretty expensive still. Let's find out the quality of what I have... for now...

Aaahso, I see. I guess those Chinons--wherever they were actually made--are no dog lenses, but at least very decent optics. And when it comes to getting a 55mm in M42 mount ... take the Auto Revuenon 1.4 as a whole-hearted recommendation for the most affordable solution. You won't be disappointed. cheers Michael

Since my Tomioka 1,4 55mm is in need of some TLC and therefore I did not have a 50mm to play with on M42, I bought this sister to the CE Memotron today. Everything is functioning like it should. Very smooth distance ring... Clean optics. Low pricing... Could not walk away from it..... Much to tempting. :-) Very robust camera's... Like Yashica much overlooked brand.. !! Con: On the HEAVY side of the spectrum :-)
