Hi everyone,
It's been another of those lucky US Ebay finds; for $89, delivered to the UK, came this lovely combination of Yashica glass and a Contax workhorse...
The 100mm f4 DX Medical came in its leather carry case attached to a trusty old Contax 167MT and a D-7 Data Back. 18 batteries later and it's all working perfectly - and for the first time in decades, I even got a spare bulb for the modelling light! Marvellous...
I hope to upload some images in the near future as this is one sharp lens!

I might have had one too many because I see double! I'm not an expert in the field but I always thought the aperture/focus mechanism in these was an engineering marvel. By the way I'm not sure if the original owners would agree with the title. After all their job was to keep people away from heaven

My only concern with this lens is that one day the ring flash will of course stop working so, for £60, to have a replacement available (along with the 167 and Data Back) gives me peace of mind.
The serial numbers of the two lenses are only 13 apart yet the carry cases are completely different internally and externally. They're both late numbers and so use the synthetic material for the Power Pack Case - a big improvement on the previous version which featured the dreaded leatherette that falls apart after a few years.
