At last there is one of these stunners in good condition on Ebay.
Check out item: 122167651699
I can't argue with anything the seller says about it; if I was in N America, I'd bid for it - unfortunately, here in Europe it's too costly after you factor in shipping, import duty, 20% VAT and Customs Clearance charges.

Horrible Price Tag, the Seller is really being crazy! I've bought one this year in march or so off ebay for <40 Bucks...and into better condition optically than this sample. The price is really too high, even my 35-70/3.5 Gem was really cheaper. -about 80 bucks, and only, because i've had pushed it that far- as buy now price directly off the seller. (and into mint condition)

thank you much - yes, sometimes...rarely, i have made a great deal with ML lenses biggles, but unfortunately, i don't own such a large ML collection as you do...but i am not jealous, just to note. i am happy with what i've got - only a spare, backup 28-50 ML would be much appreciated, because i am worried "into the wild" that something bad can happen to my sample...therefore i do use it rarely...i'd feel much more secure that way with a backup. Somebody here into the forum -had forgotten the name- sold one into the UK for around 100-117 bucks afaik earlier this year...too bad, i haven't known this back then.

I completely agree with you. When you have a really good lens that is rare like your 28-50, having a back-up gives you real peace of mind. The difficulty is that not only are they difficult to find, thanks to this Forum and others like APUG, the word has got out and prices are creeping up. I am not surprised that whenever I check into the Forum, it is always the lens section that has the most viewers.

When I sold my 28-50 by auction I got about £100 which really surprised me. Maybe this isn't too far off the mark. Mine was in better condition though.

I don't want to be mean, but the reason these things are expensive is also because people talk about auctions publicly on forums. When you know somebody, who wants one really bad, then I'd keep the conversation private. No offence, really. I'm not into zooms, although I'd learned here they're really good. Times are getting rough for vintage lenses collectors.

Thankfully keh.com hadn't got the message about the 28-50 ; just picked one up for $28.05 though by the time it's made its way across the pond and UK Customs has had its flesh, it will probably end up costing around £73. Never mind, it is comforting to have a back-up lens, just in case...

Yes truth, but then all ppl would talk into private, and not onto the forums, which lens is good..nothing bad meant, but Graham here said often Yashica XY is way good...so, i'd think this forum is too small for -into general- raising all the prices for lens xyz..worldwide. But he managed to snap a very good deal on the 28-50 ML.

Yeah I didn't mean to end conversation. Only meant to say I realised that when there's an auction of something rare it's better not to talk about it while it lasts. Did it before because of excitment Didn't notice they're fixed price listings in this topic though. This 28-50 doesn't seem that rare nowdays. At least compared to 70-210 f4 and 100-300 5.6. This is interesting because it has rather limited range. Maybe people knew well what they're buying back then.
