Possibly the least common of the Yashica screw mount cameras, the JP was a scaled-down version of the Penta J. To be honest, I bought this camera for the chrome Auto-Yashinon 50/2 lens, which might be the prettiest Yashinon of them all. But the camera seems solid and complete, and should be a good shooter. My eyes are getting old, and I might miss the split fresnel focus screen, but I will soldier on. The camera is missing the clip-on meter, slight damage to the prism housing indicates that it originally had the clip-on accessory shoe, but I do have a spare one of those. This is a handsome camera, more solidly built than the later entries in the J series.

What a great purchase - it's from a time when cameras were built as strong as a King Tiger tank.
I envy you as I have a J (somewhere) but it has the older Auto-Yashinon 5cm f2 which does not have the lovely chrome accents of your lens.

When I get done with the current reorganization of everything around here, I'll have to take inventory of my Yashica models to see where the holes are in my collection. The earlier ones have mostly eluded me, though I do have a Pentamatic, Pentamatic S, and Penta J. The J came with a meter, but it doesn't match what was used for the Penta S (comes up one speed short).

The early Auto Yashinons have a beauty all of their own, and are terrific performers.

Nice one marc - hang onto it as it's a classic!
I found my Yashica J - it's attached to a stunner of a lens but not a Yashica, it's a Kuribayashi C.C. Petri Orikkor 50mm f2 which is one of those forgotten gems of the past. The piccie of the flower which was taken hand-held in a gentle breeze shows the quality of this old glass - the critical point of focus is on the petals at the back of the flower. The original image is too big for this Forum's reproduction but it's quite something - the lens is at least as sharp as our ML 50 f2 which is one of the best out there.
