This is my first wide angle lens. Very fun to use! cropped sensor, f/2.8, 4 and again 2.8 respectively. Also some subtle adjustments in ACR. I hadn't thought it would be so hard to focus until then. I'll keep practicing, but it seems to be overall way harder to learn than a 50mm.

Well done - good work for your first time with a true wide-angle. The ML 24mm has earned a very high reputation for its even illumination and sharpness and is more than a rival for Zeiss' 25mm.
Accurate focussing with wide-angles on current DSLRs or mirrorless cameras can be quite a challenge, especially if you don't have live-view or the ability to enlarge part of the screen. It's even more tricky if you are shooting action as you tend to have the lens wide open to get maximum shutter speeds and that also gives you the shallowest depth of field.
The good old-fashioned viewfinders in Yashica and Contax cameras are so much easier...although it helps that metering and viewing are generally done with the lens wide open!

Thank you. I really can't complain on it. One thing I notoced is that with a mirrorless camera, I use, it is generally easier to focus lens with shallow depth of field. The problem lies in focus peaking not seeing minute differences in sharpness with this lens at f/2.8. I'm still thinking of a technique for shooting with it. One way would be to adjust it to infinity and use the scale. I wonder what people who shoot action do to improve fast fcusing . If I won't be able to learn it then I'll propably get something with shallower focus area. As for the lens itself: when I don't fail, it does well. At f/2.8 it gives good pictures. At f/4 the image is beautiful to my eyes. Contrast and sharpness get a bit better. I feel hood is a must though, as it catches many light sources. Some time ago I saw a very nice comparison where they had an ML 24mm which performed badly. Now I'm sure that it was just a broken sample. It really is as good as they say.
