Having known me as a dedicated Yashicano, a user in my German analog photo forum just sent me a personal message asking whether the ME 1 already has a bridge circuit so that modern batteries other than 1.35v mercury cells can be used without getting wrong light meter readings. Unfortunately I can't help him there--can you?
Thanks a lot in advance for any helpful hints, guys!

Hello Michael,
I do recall a rumour decades ago that the last batch of ME1s from Yashica's Brazil production line included such a circuit but I personally doubt it. I fear there is no option but to use the 1.35v Wein cell and given that the meter circuit is usually active, it won't last very long...you'll need a good supply!
But I've never owned one of these cameras so I could be very wrong....

All the instruction sheet says is it takes one 1.35v mercury cell, and to remove it from the camera when not in use for extended periods. Also to carry a spare when on a trip.

Thanks, Biggles and PF. So I guess hearing-aid batteries might do the trick. (BTW, sorry for posting this question in the rangefinder section.)

I just got my Lynx and the meter worked. Opened up the batt chamber and it has a Varta V 625 in it. It fits the hole but is it the right battery?
