These are significantly better than the results I ever achieved with my 72E! I sold it some years ago, thinking it was simply an underspecified camera, rather than an underrated one, but this makes me think it may have had some lens alignment problems. I liked everything else about the 72E, like the easy and thoughtfully-placed thumb wind-on mechanism, and its relatively accurate selenium meter, but could not get results from it that resembled in any way my other Yashicas, even allowing for half-frame. These are strikingly good images, an order of magnitude better than my 72E ever produced.

Thank you, Alex. I hope you went to the Flickr page, and read what all I had to do to these images.
Though the meter is working, I have no idea if it is accurate or not because the background plate is loose, and jams the needle. So I was guessing the exposures. When wearing auto-dimming glasses like I do, one should only do this if they look over the top of their glasses to properly assess the light.
And there is a light leak. On some frames I was able to compensate with a little burning in the affected area, but the others were too far gone to even salvage with a heavy crop.

It's funny, I have a similar half frame camera - a Konica EYE. I cherish it for the crappiness of its output. I enjoy the sometimes random juxtapositions you get from the way the lab scans town frames at once. In a way I see these things are the ultimate toy cameras and, rather than fighting it tend to accept the slightly iffy quality as part of the fun! I'm trying to select an outfit for my next holiday which starts this weekend and the only definite is the little Konica - a couple of examples of where that has led me... 174 by As Found, on Flickr 175 by As Found, on Flickr
