I've been trying to find some information on hoods for the first series of Yashica AF lenses, the ones before the Power Zooms came out on the 300 AF. I've purchased a GA-11 hood, but it won't go on anything I have, and just missed on getting a GA-21.
The GA-11 looks like a press-fit type, while the hoods for the Power Zooms are bayonet, so they don't interchange. The GA-11 may fit something other than the 70-210/4.5 I presently have, such as the primes, or the 28-70 or 28-85. I have a couple of those lenses on the way, so I may be able to test it then. But is there a listing somewhere that references hoods? Is it in a booklet on AF lenses? Of all the lenses I see for sale, only the 28-70 Power Zoom appears with its hood (which I already have), so the auction sites have not been much of a reference source.

I must have got this information from a seller. I found my note last night from a few months ago, and it says:
GA-11 / 24mm, 28mm, 50mm, 28-70mm, and 35-70mm
GA-21 / 70-210mm
I would think the GA-21 also fits the 35-105mm since it has such a large front, but then it does need one with a wide angle of view. So my list is incomplete. There must be another hood size out there. Running a search on Yashica hoods comes up with nothing except for the ML lenses. Doing the same search on Kyocera only shows the GA-21.
One thing I have noticed though is that on the 35-105mm the nose of the lens sticks out quite a ways, so maybe the hood sits back farther, and that could give the proper viewing angle if using a GA-21.

I compared the 70-220 with the 35-105, and there is no way the GA-21 hood will fit the 35-105 AF. Anyone have the specs for the 35-105?

PF I know this is very late in the day but since starting to build an AF selection I've been curious as to how the GA- hoods function; it took me a while to work out that the GA-11 is 'reversed' to fit onto the 50 1.8 for example. I have now got unused boxed versions of the GA-11, 21, 31 & 41 hoods though I have yet to try to fit them on to any of the zooms. Thank goodness the Power Zooms came with their own bayonet hoods.

Someone sent me this list of which GA's fit which lens (I hope they were right!) .....
GA-11 AF 50 mm f: 1.8 and AF 35 - 70 mm f: 3.3 - 4.5 MACRO GA-21 AF 70 - 210 mm f: 4.5 GA-31 AF 80-200 mm f: 4-4.8 GA-41 AF 75-300 mm f 4.5-5.6 MACRO only
If anybody needs them I have 24 x GA-31 NOS boxed and 4 x GA-41 NOS Boxed going very cheap (unfortunately, probably cheaper than the cost of sending them outside of the UK!)
To avoid hi-jacking this thread with a blatant sales pitch ... my list of remaining AF bits are in the for sale section.

It's the 31 and 41 I'm missing, so I'll be sending you a message for the purchase of the two. You can ignore my question in your For Sale post, I saw that first (I tend to work up from the bottom of a list). PF

To avoid hi-jacking this thread with a blatant sales pitch ... my list of remaining AF bits are in the for sale section. What idiot designed these Kyocera hoods? The good thing about the cheap plastic used is that it's soft enough to absorb an impact without passing the impact force onto the barrel of the lens - perhaps the selection of the soft plastic was a design intention...let's give Kyocera the benefit of the doubt. But as for the GA-41 fitting the 75-300, I have no idea how! Once again, the design concept is weird as it appears that smaller diameter end of the hood is actually the front (as with the others) BUT the lens has a bayonet fitting for a hood and there's no correlating fitting on the GA-41 hood. However, I have managed to fit the GA-41 to the 35-105 and there's no vignetting - it will cause this on the 28-85 until you hit the 31mm spot.
The GA-31 will fit the 80-200 and it can be popped onto the bayonet fitting for the 75-300. Amazingly, there is no hood designed for the superb 28-85 and it looks like the bayonet hood for the 75-300 was never made - Sigma would be the source for one.
