paguru, I'm with you on the 24-105/4. I have moved from Canon to Sony myself and that lens is sorely missed on holiday - particularly as my wife still has one on her 5D2. I'm not quite sure why Sony had to make 24-70 and a 28-70 then jump straight to the superzoom 24-240, a 10x zoom has too many compromises. Personally I think 24-85/4 or 24-105 is the goldilocks range, with the right balance of compromise quality and usability. Whoever brings this in E mount will have plenty of takers, with me at the front of the queue!!!

I just realized now that the incredible 75-150 ML have one interesting similitude with 70-210 f4 - They have both 8 blades. So, in 8 blade league we have 55 1.2, 50 1.4, 75-150 f4 and 70-210 f4

There are some more Yashica ML lenses with 8 blades:
Yashica ML Zoom 1:3,5-5,6/28-210 mm Yashica ML Zoom 1:4,5-5,6/70-210 mm Yashica ML Zoom 1:5,6/100-300 mm

It is criticised for its average build quality and noticeable distortion at both ends of the focal range. I freely admit that in this case, I am not speaking from personal experience; when I read the reviews of this lens, they were so bad I decided not to buy one. Had it been just the odd critical review, I would have given it a chance but I failed to find a single positive review.
Of course, if someone here has had a different experience, I'd be delighted to hear of it....

As the 100-300 is in my list... can you take in consideration to 'divorce' from one of yours? I propose you a trade versus the mc 28-70. I already postedd some tests, is a good lens but not ML.

Great Test, dragos - and i am finally proud, well....after many weeks it really arrived, i do have my long-term being searched-for Yashica ML 75-150/4 copy, too. It also came with the lens pouch pictured here, and it does look like new..also the "QC passed" golden-sticker is like new onto the Lens. I'm fine to have this Zoom into my ML Lenses Collection - it is for sure something better than the Yashica ML 80-200/4 Zoom...naturally, by Design...only a 2x Zoom Factor exactly, whileas the latter is x2.5 Zoom Factor. As for the 100-300/5.6 ML Zoom, i've bought my Copy like Mint with Case earlier this year by accident. Still, being waiting for my NOS 28-85/3.5-4.5 ML...i do have a copy already, but not mint, in completely new, sealed Box...

Delightful photos; welcome to the 75-150 Appreciation Society! Like the 70-210 f4, it produces images that have a very Zeiss-like feel... Yes, it's a very good lens - mine was about ~68 bucks with shipping from the USA, but totally worth the wait. Dragos samples showing what the lens could do, and i am quite sure, this zoom can do even better. :-) The subject isolation onto the samples (minus the boy picture because of pov & light) is really nice, it does have it's vignetting of course, but it's still a very good Lens. I wouldn't exchange it for the 80-200/4 ML or 70-210/4 ML. This lens seem to have this unique "Zeiss-like" 3D Pop rendering, which i do really appreciate. The lens is a keeper, for sure.

But i do own the 28-210/3.5-5.6 too, because sometimes it's nice to own a FF-compatible "Soup Zoom" lens, and also it's performance isn't so bad at F/8...

I'm so pleased to report that I have been able to buy another ML 75-150 lens which will be arriving tomorrow.
I bought it on Ebay from a US seller with good Feedback and it looks clean. Frequently these days, buying a camera or lens from the USA via Ebay is a waste of time for us in Europe as the insured shipping costs are so high that it makes the purchase uneconomic, especially when you add the EU's 20% VAT and import duty. Fortunately, few people recognise the exceptional quality of this little zoom so my winning bid was only $16.13 and postage was a mere $6.80! I could not believe my luck as I was expecting to have to walk away from the auction. I love this zoom and, given its comparative rarity, it's good to have a couple of back-ups in case of disaster. Can't wait for the postman....

it's exactly as you said it....but you can be very proud, i've paid much, much more for my 75-150/4 ML, and even more because of 19% Tax here... if only, i'd had another 28-50/3.5 ML...

However, even after 4 attempts, I still haven't managed to get a really good copy of the 28-85 free from fungus or haze...
