I'm not a Yashica camera collector, but a Yashica ML lenses collector. My collection grows since 2009 to this: I use them with adapter on my Canon and Sony cameras. So nearly all of them are still alive!

Mine ends **0153 - the rumour is that under 200 were manufactured so I'm interested to find a lens close to or above the **0200 number.
Cheers, Graham

Hi Graham, I'm afraid there are some more . I know about the serial numbers **153 (yours), **255, **506, **514 (mine). By using the german tank formula and 4 known serial numbers there might be around 650 lenses.

Hi - that seems more likely for a year's production run; thank you. I always felt that the 200+ figure was too low.
It is still intriguing as to why these lenses hardly ever appear for sale - I suppose, when you have something that good, only financial hardship would make you sell it.... I remember Kevin Cameras in the US had a couple for sale about 4 years ago - since then, none. Have you seen his price for my second favourite ML zoom, the 28-50...$450! Crazy; it is a lovely lens, but not that lovely!

Crazy; it is a lovely lens, but not that lovely! Last week a ML 4/70-210 was sold here in Germany with a complete camera set, but bad description, for only 27,50 Euro ! But I saw this offer too late . 2x ML 3,5/28-50 were sold in November for 40-50 Euro. Its a fine zoom lens and one of my favorites, too.

That is an excellent collection, Stefan. I suppose if I would concentrate on one manufacturer, I could do something like that too, but I've got too much interest in too many systems. Hard to turn down a deal on a good camera. Welcome to the forum!

Hard to turn down a deal on a good camera. Welcome to the forum! PF Thank you! I've got the same "problem", I'm interested in several sytems and lenses. So I also own 4 wider open Nikkor AI lenses (2/35mm, 2/85mm, 2,5/105mm, 2,8/180mm) and several Praktina lenses built in the former GDR. With my self-made Praktina-EOS-adapters I can use them with my digital Canon and Sony camera bodies. They produce an old-fashioned look in the pictures.

Hi Graham, A new copy of this lens was found: > look< serial number is **566. So for me it's the highest serial number for now. Hi yashicanoner - many thanks for the information and the link. Wonderful to see some really good photos taken with the lens. It does look likely that under 1000 were manufactured in 1979 - the problem in finding more information is that the lens is so good (very similar quality to the Zeiss VS 70-210 f3.5) that people don't sell them very often. As you say, 566 is the highest so far...
Best wishes, Graham
