I've been gifted a 50 f2 with the stickiest aperture blades you'll ever find.
It is such an underrated lens but I can't justify the cost of £55-85 to send it to be professionally cleaned - it's easier to buy another one. However, I hate to see a great lens being abandoned and so want to clean it. I just finished cleaning the blades of a ML 1.7 - disassembly took 20 minutes and reassembly about 1 hour. Getting to its internal components was easy as all I had to do was twist off the front of the lens barrel and all the elements and aperture assembly came out without much difficulty.
Looking at the f2, I'm not convinced that the same disassembling procedure applies. Taking apart the 1.7 is very like the Zeiss 50 1.4 Planar but I'm wondering if the f2 is more like the 1.7 Planar in which you have to remove the front bezel to access some screws that allow the front elements to be removed (and hopefully provide access to the blades on the Yashica). Has anyone here had experience of taking the f2 apart?
Here's hoping someone can help with advice on removing those pesky front elements....

I'd advise just (if you badly need it) to aquire another 50/F2 ML. My 1st 50/F2 ML costed me just 10 Bucks many years ago, and the 2nd one, which worked basically as a Body Cap with my new bought FX-3 Super, costed me 18 bucks included the FX-3 Super, into mint like condition...
What i do really like about the 50/F2 ML - it's pancake like appereance. No need the use the 50/1.7 ML, albeit it's a great Lens - the 50/2 ML is also very good, optically.
