Nice, but it doesn't list any of the camera's features.

Nice, but it doesn't list any of the camera's features. Click on the photos! You'll not only get larger versions of the thumbnails, but also tech notes below the images.

I get thumbnails for everything except the "Camera List" and the "Lens List".

Alright. Got my FX-1. Replacing the battery was easy. Needed just a bit of force to unscrew. Fresh bettery reveals that the shutter seems to be allright. But I'm afraid the lightmeter isn't working like it should and therefore the automatic also. When I halfpress the shutterbutton, the needle flies to the roof. In other words, the meterneedle goes way up, where the M ( manual ) sign is showing in the viewfinder. Seems to me as not normal behaviour. But maybe I'm doing something wrong... ( I hope.. )
It's a very beautiful camera... Feels as solid as the FR and FR-1. And I like that a lot.
Recieved a FR-1 with winder also, but it's clear the its shutter is gone completely. Can be replaced, I know. But at what cost?

I just meant to say that if you open one of the galleries, for instance this one... www.captainchaoz.talktalk.net/YC/index.html...and then click on the images, you will get further specifications. I know it's not quite the thing you asked for, but possibly as close as you can get. Michael

Well, even at my venerable old age I can still enjoy surprises and today was no exception. Loving surprises as much as the next guy, I decided to follow your example and check out the FX-1. I soon found one, at a very modest price & pretty minty at that, afloat in the 'bay ... Anxiously anticipating the arrival of the postman... If my wife should receive the parcel, I can still declare it a Christmas present (which is not even that far from the truth).

An FX-1 - now that's what I call a Christmas present...! I hope you enjoy it; It's a big, uncompromising beast - you gotta love them.

I've got another FX-2 on the way, the last one had to be returned because it was a corroded piece of junk.

My FX-1 has just arrived. Just gotta luv it! Less chunky than the TL Electro / TL Super models, yet it feels every bit as sturdy and solid. Only the advance lever seems a bit wobbly, but that's not much of an issue. Thanks, Graham, for re-igniting my GAS...! (Of course, I must now check out the FX-2 as well...)

I thought the TL Electro and the FX-1 had a lot in common....
( But I've never seen a TL Electro in person.... )

Hello Michael,
I'm so pleased to hear that you are enjoying the FX-1 (and that an FX-2 may appear in your household soon... ). It is a lovely camera and made to last - it's one of those cameras that just 'feels right' when you hold it. The only other cameras that did that for me were the Contax RTS and the Olympus E-M1.
Your can see it shares the same DNA with the classic Yashica cameras from the old J Reflex 35 through to the TL Electro X ITS. At some stage I should create a line-up of them to show the evolution... I'm waiting on a camera that I've never seen - the FFT - and when it arrives, I'll grab a shot of the group if it's of interest though I don't plan to include the variants of the J as they are pretty similar to each other.
I suppose the FR might also be included to show just how big a change the Bauhaus design influence from the Contax RTS had on Yashica's future direction; popping a FX-A or FX-3 next to the FX-1 might also be instructional...

Once more, a FX-1 graces my shelves...
The black version has always been a favourite but my last one was missing the self-timer; this lovely combination arrived today as a swap for an Olympus m4/3 digital camera.
The bonus was a nice, clean AE Zeiss 135mm f2.8 lens that was bought by the previous owner with the camera alongside a ML 55 1.2 and ML 24mm which she's not parting with! Smart cookie as those are special lenses...
FX-1 Zeiss 135mm
As mentioned earlier in this thread, there's something 'just right' about the feel of the FX-1 - especially for those oldies among us that were used to using the heavy, metal-bodied cameras of the 1960s and 70s. There's a reassurance in these big lumps of metal as they feel like they can go on for ever... And many do.

<sigh> A black one! I've been thinking of getting one for quite some time, considering the black ones still more elegant than the silver/black version. But of course I don't need yet another camera, do I...?

Of course, you should have a black one - if only to stop the silver one feeling lonely; you can justify it as an act of kindness...
