Does anyone know how to get the front elements out of the 100/3.5 ML Macro? I need to clean some fungus off.

Does anyone know how to get the front elements out of the 100/3.5 ML Macro? I need to clean some fungus off. I don't know how - as always, I'd start with trying to remove the bezel but it would also depend on the extent and placement of the fungus. There's a very nice and tempting copy of the lens on the UK eBay site (eBay item number: 204270247896); you can see it has some front element fungus which looks sufficient enough to have already etched the glass. However, given the position and being on the front element, I'd leave it and simply neutralise it with UV light. If your lens has essentially the same issue, unless you're looking to sell it, killing the spores will do what's necessary as the lens will be perfectly fit for purpose in 99% of piccies. The UV treatment will also eliminate the risk of contaminating other equipment.

I have two of the same lens, and one has an extra small 1mm 'spot' of fungus at the extreme outer edge of the front element on the inner side. At one point I tried - unsuccessfully, on both methods - to remove the entire filter ring and face as a complete assembly, and to unscrew just the faceplate ring. I suspect that there is a set of screw heads under the rubber grip that attach the outer barrel to the internal helical, but in the few encounters I've had with trying to replace broken barrel screws and ending up worse than where I started... I decided not to try again. I opted to go the same route biggles3 suggests, and kill it off with UV treatments. I used a 6 inch T5 fluorescent UV-C bulb/ballast 'Germicide' kit. I've owned that lens for 5+ years and the spot hasn't increased in size or spread its shape at all. I'd agree about noting the spot and it's treatment and affirm it doesn't interfere with results if I ever sold it.
