It has been a long time coming, but after a very long (and happy) run on version 7, I've taken the plunge with a new PC running Windows 11. I still have 7 going - and it will stay that way permanently, but in storage - and I also have a Win 10 PC for non-essential stuff that can be called on if/when needed. The question is... what, if anything, will and can go wrong with such a major upgrade with any/all software I rely on as a creator, tinkerer, and more?
After installing 1500+ font files that seemed to take forever to finish, I'm reminded that this will inevitably be a slow and grueling process since I'm not upgrading 'in-place' in order to preserve the old PC, as-is. Beyond the obligatory drivers for digital cameras and all their various apps to transfer files, I'll still be (re)installing software I regularly use - i.e., Photoshop CS2, DxO, LightRoom v5, Alien Exposure, Affinity Photo, etc. - I'd like to be aware of any "Gotchas' before I get too far into the process. If you're running Win 11 and know of anything I should be mindful of, please enlighten me with your wisdom. If there is something that I've not used before that requires win 10/11 to run, please let me know what you may have found helpful that I may have missed or have been unaware of. Just one request... please don't suggest anything that requires an ongoing subscription payment. I guarantee that it will never see use on anything I own, no matter how good it is.
