Some while back, we showed Yashica's Quadri-viewer but here we can see the two accessory viewers manufactured by Yashica in the 1960s (judging by the font) along with the dedicated viewfinder showing bright-lines covering both types. Yashica Multi-image adapter setWhat is interesting to note is that on the front of the instruction sheet, the 4-way adapter is shown attached to a fold-out studio camera so we now know this was a studio accessory which was not dedicated to Yashica's own cameras. The internal diameters of the adapter rings are 46mm. The two-way adapter is intriguing as its format looks like a 16:9, unlike the squarer format of its big brother; the viewfinder confirms that it's intended to be attached horizontally. While the 4-way would be fine for head-and-shoulder portrait shots, the 2-way is better suited to full length portraits. One thing worth noting is that the 4-way is very heavy and, if left attached to the front assembly of a fold-out camera for a while, it would undoubtedly place a serious strain on it. It's currently being auctioned in Japan via Yahoo - if they drop the starting price, they might well get some bids; it's been available for the last 5 months with no takers. You'd think the seller might have got the message by now....

I'm wondering if the dual-view version is another brand and only looks similar and performs the same function. What I assume to be seeing on it as it's lens hole is so much smaller than the Yashica branded version, it seems like they were not designed to work on the same lens. They might work the same and come from the same maker, but without the branding - and there's clearly room for some - I'd question if they belong together as a set.

Hi Randy, I can confirm that the 2-way carries a Yashica plate too. The 4-way has a degree of magnification which is why it appears to have a larger diameter attachment ring; the website confirms they are both 46mm internally. I keep checking every fortnight but in all these months, the seller has refused to make the price more attractive. I'd buy the set even though I have the 4-way just to have the viewfinder attachment but with the weight of the kit, it would cost around £100 landed in the UK, with VAT and import duty to be added. It's just too expensive for something I might use only a couple of times a year... I would love to see the resulting image from the use of the 2-way attachment.

Well, it would seem that Yashica made 2 very different versions of the 4-way viewer as this one has just arrived. Yashica Quadri-Viewer w CaseWhile the one illustrated earlier in this thread has square windows, this slightly larger version sports rectangular ones. It has also been modified to fit a specific camera (unknown what type) as the pivot points on the centre axis attach to a couple of complex brackets which are inside the case. That lovely leather case is what broke my resistance - it is made from top quality leather and has a red felt interior with an extra internal flap for added protection. These multiple viewers are quite heavy and contain a lot of glass plus a number of mirrors.
