Hello, While browsing the net looking for Yashica cameras, this Rainbow MD135 camera showed up for sale in Germany: It seems that it is based on the Yashica MD-35 or at least it looks the same camera: There is a picture of the same camera, but branded as Yashica Protacon MD-35, here: Yashica- Protacon MD-35Searching for some examples of the camera, found out a couple of them in Brazil: More pictures of the all the above cameras here. So... What do you think?... same camera or not?

There seem to be quite a few "clones" named MD35, MD-35, MD135 etc etc around the world, not just Brazil and other South American countries. Despite their name, not all are based on the Yashica MD-35, but what a lot of them have in common is that they resemble one or other of the true Yashica 35mm Compact Cameras. The funniest one I've seen is a "cubist" version of a half-frame Samurai which was marketed as a "6 half-frame" .... just love the big filter on the front, no doubt masking some poor small aperture lens! (Apologies in advance for the low-res grab from ~2005). Edit:- p.s. You can see quite a few more MD-35 and other clones on my Yashica Family Tree Chart ..... PM me if you haven't seen a copy.

This thread reminded me that there's a Toma MR-900 Novacam I being sold on Ebay UK (Item:255720065584) on which it appears the Yashica logo has been added in the only available space, presumably for the Jebsen company.. Anyhow, at under £1 it does at least have one bidder.
