Among a nice little haul of Yashica and Contax goodies was a NOS 'Data Back' for the lovely Contax Tvs.
After grabbing a CR2025 battery and spending quite a few minutes trying to fix the battery compartment cover back in place, it was time to set the date. Whooops! This back only ran to the end of 2019. While I'm used to that with the majority of Yashica compacts, Contax has always opted for longevity. As long ago as the D-7 Data-Back was introduced, it was chipped to work until 2067 so it seems that Kyocera had a lot less faith in their T-series cameras. 48 years less faith...!

Shame on them; it can't have cost that much more (especially when you consider just how expensive all their T models were when released!) to pop in a better chip. It's not as if this is a genuine data-back; it's simply a date-back so extending the range of the calendar could not have been a major problem.
One can only assume that they did not expect these cameras to last as long as the SLRs... That's hardly a ringing endorsement from the maker of these fine models.
