I specifically went to Waldron on my recent trip back home to see what it was like after all these years. This was the end of the territory I worked as an Assistant Signal Maintainer on Conrail. No rail traffic there anymore, but the Central Railroad of Indiana has trackage rights all the way to Indianapolis. They only run trains up to Adams though, to service the new Honda plant in Greensburg. The other end of the territory was Signal 108, just outside of Beech Grove, a town that used to be outside of Indianapolis, but now you can't tell where one ends, and the other starts. It's where the big Amtrak passenger car service facility is. Took this first shot with the last frame in my Olympus XA on Kodak Gold 200. End Of The Territory by br1078phot, on Flickr This rail line was completed 100 years before I was born, as the Lawrenceburg and Indianapolis Railroad. It became part of the Big Four RR (CCC&StL), then New York Central System, then Conrail, before ending up as the Central Railroad of Indiana (CIND), a subsidiary short line operation owned by Genesee and Wyoming. Down there where the trees converge over the tracks is a switch that leads into a furniture manufacturer, and its track circuit was the terminal of my responsibility. The rest of these were taken with a Leidolf Lordomat and Schacht-Travenar 3.5/35 on Kodak 100 T-Max. Waldron Restaurant by br1078phot, on Flickr I had lunch in St. Paul, IN, so dessert was in order. Blueberry pie al a mode hit the spot. Waldron Auto Care by br1078phot, on Flickr Old timey gas station still operating. They were on vacation though when I stopped by, so no photos of the inside. I don't remember what used to sit here, maybe a grain mill. www.flickr.com/photos/7699588@N07/sets/72157645957370968/PF

In case you aren't familiar with the Leidolf line, the two models I have are interchangeable lens 35mm rangefinders. The one on the left is a C-35, while the one on the right is a Lordomat. The C-35 has a built-in uncoupled selenium meter, and frame lines in a separate viewfinder for the 35, 90, and 135mm lenses. The Lordomat is sporting the 35mm finder, that came with a 90mm mask. So I'm on the lookout for a 135mm mask. Both finders have manual parallax correction. The C-35 has the 2.8/50 Lordonar as the standard lens, and there is a 1.9 version too. The Lordomat is sporting the 3.5/35 Schacht-Travenar. The other two lenses are the 4/90, and 4/135 Schacht-Travenar's. All four lenses take the same size filters (40.5mm). Adams, IN A small village just outside of Greensburg, and now right next to the new Honda plant. Doesn't look like any of the supposed benefits of such a facility have spilled over to this area. Westport, IN Covered Bridge I was getting towards the end of the roll, and wanted to get one more subject before the skies cut loose. The Westport Covered Bridge always makes a good appearance since its restoration. And this is one of the few remaining that you can actually drive on. It’s on an older section of road that was bypassed when a new curve was put in, mainly to be able to put in a two-lane bridge, and preserve this one for the future, so it doesn’t see a lot of traffic. In The County Last of the photos from my latest trip home. Just some random stuff one sees as they drive around the back roads. Leidolf Lordomat with Schacht-Travenar 3.5/35 on Kodak 100 T-Max Egg Factory by br1078phot, on Flickr It doesn't look like much, so low on the horizon, with a roof that blends into the sky, and the fields of corn almost obscuring the view (luckily, it was soybeans on this side). The feed bins give it away as a large, high tech facility designed to get the most production out of the hens that reside there. Country Skyscraper by br1078phot, on Flickr Greensburg, IN's latest water tower is way out by where Clifty Creek crosses Old US-421 and I-74. They built a small reservoir and treatment plant so they could pump water out of the creek for the city's use. Corn Wall by br1078phot, on Flickr I've seen vehicles that have gone off-road by accident or on purpose into a corn field. They don't get far. Country Manse by br1078phot, on Flickr Well, this is something I didn't expect to see in my home county. I couldn't think of what farmer did good enough to build such a place. It had to be some contractor, or somebody like that. But no, it does belong to a farmer. He just happened to own the land that Honda wanted to put their new assembly plant on, and this is the result of his family's good fortune. My nephews told me that the garage has a lower level, with an elevator to get the cars up and down. Nice.

So industry did not transform the place. I can feel the homeyness.

Thanks, Adrian. Since you pointed out the whole set, I don't know if you are meaning individual photos, or all of them. I was shooting with an orange filter, so that upped the contrast a bit. And on two of the photos, I adjusted the lighting of the bridge interior so that the detail could be seen, which always introduces a bit of noise that can be interpreted as grain. PF

Phil, the sky is too white that's why I thought about the over exposure, but you are right... the contrast is medium to high. Thanks for a cool set.

Thanks, Adrian. It was overcast the whole day, and started raining just after I finally ran out of film, so no detail in the sky.
