It's amazing how stupid one can feel when you've failed to spot something that's been right in front of your eyes - in this case perhaps for some 60 years or more.... Doh! This is a close-up of the lovely 4cm lens on the original Yashica Flash-O-Set rangefinder camera. Flash-O-Set filterAs you can see (and until now I failed miserably to do so) there is an inverted 1961 Yashica logo peeping out from behind the lens' bezel. It was only because I was replacing the 15v battery that I had the camera tilted in such a way as to catch the light and reveal the branding. It is part of a factory-fitted UV filter which was not, of course, fitted to the two Flash-O-Set II models with their lenses being surrounded by a glass bezel for the selenium cell, and carrying a filter ring. With Yashica, much more than Contax, one's education never seems to finish...
