The seller claims this lens was made by Tomioka -- does not offer evidence.
Any thoughts?

It could be a seller compared the finishing on the focus grip of the barrel and found it similar to the Chinon 55mm f/1.4 and decided that it had to be a Tomioka lens. Did Haminex rebrand Tomioka lenses or use their designs or just the glass? I'd hesitate to say that with certainty for any lens that is not at least a 55mm normal lens. Any maker can closely or exactly match the outward physical appearance of another makers design, so that wouldn't mean the heritage is clear from looks alone. Tomioka (and Yashica, after acquiring them) either manufactured and/or designed - and often co-branded - lenses for other companies, and didn't always acknowledge the fact when the Tomioka name wasn't emblazoned on the front ring or barrel edge. I'd said 55mm lenses above as the 'usual suspect', since that's the common lens that is usually well known as a Tomioka model, and almost always they contain Thorium radiated glass in either f/1.2, 1.4 or 1.8 speeds. That's also the chemical content that made Tomioka the go-to maker during the time period. Other makers may not have had the experience or abilities to formulate radioactive glass and might have prefered someone else to take the risks, even when they were already capable of, and had a history of, making their own multi-focal lenses in-house. Online sources that do have some listings of who made what for Hanimex don't include Tomoka anywhere in the mix. This Camerapedia page has a long list of known (or suspected) rebrandings for Hanimex. A Guide to Hanimex lenses from the preset era is interesting, but not enlightening on makers. Some sources suggest their lenses may have been made by Practica and later by Tōkyō Kōgaku (aka,Topcon). Personally, I'm not convinced a 35mm f/2.8 from Nanimex had any connection to Tomioka just from it's visual cues alone. Not to mention... I also don't recall any Tomioka made lens that had a "No." prefix text before the serial number stampings. They may have had a single letter (like, A or C) to start the actual number, but no labeled prefixes.

Thanks. That's sort of what I thought. I know HANIMEX got their gear from a lot of different places -- just as Ponder & Best, Soligor, Vivitar, Osawa, etc. did, but I had never heard of Tomioka as a source -- and it probably isn't.
