I'm getting ready for the annual bird migration season. I have lots of birds come through, but they only stay for a day or two, so I have to be ready.
This year, I've pulled out my Yashica-based, Tokina 800mm f8 (front) and Perkin/Elmar-based, Vivitar 800mm f11 (rear) to get ready for the show.
Please note that the Vivitar has a lens shade that is as long as the lens, and the Tokina has a lens shade as well.
We'll see what happens. The Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, Bluejays, and Flickers have already showed up.

I should add that the original Super Yashinon-R 800mm was over a foot longer. Can you imagine that? No wonder Yashica dropped it as a "non-seller".
The Tokina modification added a two-element group to the rear which made it a true tele-photo -- and much shorter. It didn't help sales that much -- even though it was sold under the Soligor and Vivitar labels.
