Hmm,
I've just spotted a Yashica-Yashinon 127mm f4.7 lens which is completely new to me; it was incorporated into a Polaroid 120 Pathfinder camera. Although not available as a stand-alone lens (as far as I know), I have added it to our list for the sake of completeness.

Given the discussion on a related topic, we might want to modify this in the list:
Yashinon-DX 500mm f8 Reflex M42 6/5
Yashica 500mm f8 Reflex C/Y 6/5
Yashica ML 500mm f8 Reflex C/Y 8/6
into something like this:
Yashinon-DX 500mm f8 Reflex M42 6/5
Yashica 500mm f8 Reflex (V1 w/ single-coating, built-in lens shade and rotating tripod socket) C/Y 6/5
Yashica 500mm f8 Reflex (V2 w/ multi-coating, separate lens shade and no tripod socket) C/Y 6/5

Perhaps it would be best put into a footnote.

I wonder if we have this MC 2.8/28 on our list? Thanks for the reminder. We looked at this lens some time ago but I forgot to add it to the list.
Nice to see they're still trying to sell it but it's a crazy price for a clone of another manufacturer; rarity is only of value to a collector and with no information available on performance, why would you spend so much money no the lens? If he halved the price, curiosity might get the better of prudence and I'd probably buy it but which lens would I sacrifice to help pay for it....?

I'm stick stuck on the second version of the Yashica 500mm f8 Reflex. I've never seen the lens, but I can imagine two possibilities:
1. The body of the lens is the same, or about the same, as the first version -- and the tripod mount is changed from a rotating to a fixed mount. Whithout a significant reduction in the weight of the lens a tripod mount would be needed.
2. The body of the lens is significantly smaller and lighter. As a result the tripod mount is removed since it is not needed. But a significantly smaller and lighter body suggests a different lens design. Could this be the same body and design as the ML?
Has anyone actually seen this version 2 lens themselves or on the web?

Why not a separate section for Yashica enlarger lenses or something -- like the E-Yashinon-DX 21mm 3.5

Auto Yashinon 58mm f1.7
Any one has a sample of this lens, at least a photo, or is a mistake?

Just to update everyone - 7 additional M42 lenses have been added today and optical configurations on several of the other M42 lenses have been added.
Thankfully, some of the earlier camera manuals (the Yashica TL-Super was very useful) have yielded additional information and I was able to find a mid-1960s DX lens catalogue I didn't know I had along with a Yashinon lens and accessories catalogue from the late 1960s. It's amazing what you can find at the bottom of a box...! |
