This lovely kit arrived this morning from Japan. It is the Contax ST with its P-7 Power Adapter and the lovely Yashica ML 35-70 f4 lens. ST_P-7_ML 35-70 f4The Contax ST is one of the most perfect cameras to use - a true photographer's instrument. No frills (unless you count the ceramic plate as one) - just superb engineering and ergonomics. It is one of the very few cameras to receive a perfect rating from Amateur Photographer. The P-7 adapter allows you to use 4 AA batteries instead of the AAA ones used in-camera and more importantly, permits the use of the P-6 Power Pack for cold weather working. The lovely little ML 35-70 f4 lens is a bit of legend, alongside its larger sibling the f3.5, and needs no further comment from me; details can be found in our lens section.

Congrats, biggles. I am wondering, whereas you do always buy these Contax & Yashica Gear. It seems to me, you own per se every produced item from both brands, and with unlimited ressources therefore. I'd wish i have more gear. Own both, but without the P7, never know, that this existed.

I sell things so that I can buy bits of Contax/Yashica gear, especially the unusual or rare items which can then be shared with the members of this Forum. I was also lucky to have had a good relationship with Yashica in Germany and Photax here in the UK back in the late 1970s and through much of the '80s which led to being gifted a number of cameras, lenses and accessories. There are only 5 items from the Contax/Zeiss range that I'm missing but there are dozens and dozens of Yashica/Yashima/Tomioka/Kyocera photographic items that I don't have; of those, however, there are not that many that I'd still like to be able to use. There are some Yashica curios for which I'm now keeping my eyes peeled such as their 1960's radios, tape-recorders and a record player and the odd novelty or dealer incentive product. Last week I found a 6ft tall Contax banner which was used by a Japanese dealer in Tokyo - it cost me £1.97 plus £8 shipping. It's of no practical use but for under £10, I couldn't resist it. A stupid thing to buy perhaps, but it's fun...
