While continuing my search for small flash units, I ran across this. Seems odd to me. I don't know if its celebrating 50 years of Sears or Contax or WHAT? The seller doesn't say anything, really.
Any ideas what this is about?
Unfortunately it doesn't solve MY problem -- but maybe yours?

Oh gawd, does the seller interpret the capital Y in '50 Years' as a Y and an S alternatively, believing the article was somehow rebranded by Sears??

You are undoubtedly correct!!! Good for a laugh, anyway. How many times have I seen the Konica EYE half-frame listed as the Konica CYC?
Was this the only flash sold as an anniversary item? Does this mean the flash list needs updating?

The reference to Sears is completely misleading - I think it's simply a listing error. This is a standard Contax TLA20 which had an overprint to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Contax marque which was introduced in 1932. The same thing was also done to the TLA30. TLA 50th AnniversaryApart from the overprint, they are standard versions of the TLA flash units. In 1982, Anniversary editions of the Contax RTS (gold and lizard skin), various camera straps and of course the fabulous 85mm f1.2 Planar were introduced. It also saw the introduction of the gold-coloured Anniversary Button that took the place of the standard PC-socket cover and so is sometimes found on cameras released in that year, such as the RTSII and late-numbered RTS's.

The reference to Sears is completely misleading - I think it's simply a listing error. Well, the right half of the letter Y does resemble an S (if you discount the first half as some sort of ornamental flourish) so that 'Years' may easily become 'Sears'.
Now the funny thing about this is that the seller, in a kind of 'mental short-circuiting', seems to have adopted both interpretations at the same time, hence 'Sears Contax 50 Year an[n]iversary'. I have no proof of this, of course, but I'm pretty sure this is what happened.
