Status: My first SLR was an FX-2 in 1979. I’ve been shooting and collecting Yashica/Contax gear ever since.

This is one of my favorite things: www.flickr.com/photos/papablue123/51289055415/in/dateposted-public/It's a dealer sales tool for use in the photo store when someone buys a new lens. "Do you need a new filter to protect your pricey lens? I have these $15 store-brand filters, but I really recommend the $85 Zeiss filters. And here's why..." The sales person then pulls out this item and shows how much difference a T* coating makes. The sales tool is made like a small lens, with an aluminum barrel and three glass filters sandwiched in between. The first filter shows the affect of no lens coatings (horrible). The second shows the affects of T coatings (by now an old Zeiss formula, and probably equivalent to the store-brand filters) -- marginally better but still poor. The third shows the miraculous benefits of T* coating. The visual is quite stunning in the clarity and contrast displayed; I have to say, this real-time, real-life demo would have sold me on Zeiss filters. This sales tool is pretty rare -- I've only ever seen it for sale once. But it is shown here on a Zeiss web page (see below). It's possible the item was used to promote Zeiss lenses, too, but I think it was probably most effective at moving add-on filters. www.flickr.com/photos/papablue123/51288212033/in/dateposted-public/Dale

Some of my Contax Zeiss Lenses have Zeiss T* UV Filters, and even the original Contax Filters (Schott German Glass, i think, but it might being made by Kyocera, but i'm fine with Contax L39 UV Filters since the 90s..) Heck, even my R1 uses a Zeiss T* UV.
