I've met a lot of lenses over the years, but this is the first time I've run across one without a name on it -- somewhere.
I now have an unusual 70-210mm f4.0/5.6 lens. It's small, lightweight, and a one-touch zoom -- with 70mm at the short setting.
The front ring is inscribed "MC AUTO ZOOM 1:4.0-5.6 f=70-210mm 52@ No.8926897".
The only other marking is on the bottom -- "LENS MADE IN KOREA".
The multi-coating is beautiful (who knows how well it works), it has a "macro made" (to 1:4), and a DOF scale (5.6, 11 & 22).
One odd "element" is that the rear element is only 10mm diameter!!! My standard 70-210mm f4.0 has a 30mm element on the rear. Quite a difference.
Who knows how good the lens is but I'll find out.
What I'd also like to know is who made it. Being so generic it must have been made in various mounts, but there are only so many South Korean lens "manufacturers".
The Samyang lenses that I have and have seen are clearly marked.
Any ideas?

Well I found the lens. Some are up for auction on EBAY. However all the ones on EBAY are clearly marked SAMYANG or PHOENIX/SAMYANG, etc. on the front ring -- unlike mine. Seems odd, but stranger things have happened!

I too would suspect it's a Samyang. I don't know if there's any others in Korea that produce their own optics 'fully, in house' that would show that origin mark. Rokinon, Samyang, Bower, (and Phoenix) are all the same company, and from what I've just read, they added "Irix" into the mix with another line of Cine lenses. I suppose there's also a possibility that someone altered the lens and removed the branding in some way. Is it really a 70-210mm lens? Maybe the name ring was replaced from a donor lens. The Samyang and Samyang/Phoenix MC 70-210mm lenses I found on ebay only show the maker's name on their name rings - although one did have a front cap with "Samyang" molded into it.

The front ring on this lens looks original -- and the lens looks like new. The front ring inscription is exactly the same as on the EBAY Samyang lenses -- except the "SAMYANG" is not there. All other features are exactly the same, so I know it is the same lens. Just seems odd -- but that's OK with me. I just hope I like the results. I'll compare it to my 70-210mm f4.0 as a "gold standard".
