Yashica's tiny Zoomate 110W is one of the few non-T* series compacts that has a good reputation but the problem has always been finding one at a sensible price. Mercifully, the long wait is now over... Yashica Zoomate 110WThis diminutive camera has the widest angle of Yashica's P&S Zoomate range at 28mm, with the zoom extending to 110mm (there is also a 90W model featuring a 28-90 zoom). It also has a switch-selectable Panorama mode. The lens is a dual-aspheric 28-100mm zoom comprising 8 elements in 6 groups, with maximum apertures of f6 at 28mm and f13.1 at 110mm. For focusing, the 110W offers a choice of 5-point AF or Spot AF and offers shutter speeds from 2s to 1/300s. It also offers a number of Flash Modes, including a Night Portrait Mode. One very useful refinement is the provision of a variable dioptre (-3 to +1) for the viewfinder - this is rare among Yashica's cameras. This delightful example came complete in its original box which includes among its accessories a book of stickers to place on used film cassettes to instruct the lab: Develop Only; Panorama; Panorama + Standard. It's a very handy extra. The lens is supposed to be a good one so some film awaits...
