Yashica Micro Elite AF - but not in name

This diminutive Yashica camera is the Minitec AF but anyone here with a Micro Elite AF is entitled to be confused as the cameras are identical.
Minitec AF
It boasts the same Yashica 32mm f3.5 Tessar-design, 4-element lens as the Micro Elite, the same shutter speeds (1s-1/700s), etc. etc.
Why did Kyocera re-badge it? I've no idea but it's a nice performer thanks to its excellent glass and reliable AF. I suspect the alternative names may have something to do with being aimed at different territories in which occasionally there may be conflicts with similar brand names. I'm sure someone here knows the answer...
