I just got an FX-3 Super 2000 with a couple of lenses, and also with it came a neat little CS-140 flash unit that snaps up and down to turn on and off. Unfortunately, the flash didn't come with a manual, and it isn't listed in the system accessories sheet from about 1988 that I have.
By comparing the exposure table printed on the back with that of a CS-14 flash that I also have, it appears that the guide numbers for the two are about the same. But the CS-140 has three contacts, rather than just one, on the bottom of the hot shoe, so I assume it works in automatic mode with certain Yashica and Contax cameras. Which ones? Is the FX-3 Super 2000 one of them?

The manual I have does not show the CS-140 in the acceptable use list for the FX-3 Super 2000 (it does list the CS-14). The camera does have the third contact, and the CS-201 Auto is shown as the standard unit. The CS-140 may have been a later development.

The CS-140 and CS-220 were made for the 107/108 cameras.
Go quickly to this Ebay listing and you'll see the instruction pages: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YASHICA-CS-140-Electronic-Flash-with-Original-Case-and-Manual-Instruction-/281079973416?nma=true&si=CwvY%252F3EZ5nSwOHsxDiJO%252BK1FHGI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 As it's not that recent, I'd hurry as the images won't be available much longer - they contain all the info you need.
Good luck.

Go quickly to this Ebay listing . . . Thanks, biggles3. I did manage to capture the images of the instruction pages. Just what I was looking for.

... Do u know if i can use it in the Yashica FX-3? Welcome to the forum couzin ... The flash designed specifically to work on the FX-3 body is the Yashica CS-202 Auto, and it will offer every automation and TTL function possible. According to a copy of the FX-3 manual posted online, the CS-201 Auto, or the Contax TLA20 or TLA30 will also work - except that they'll offer no direct TTL or auto shutter speed switching functions. I would also assume that other Yashica flashes from later in the CS series may function with at least the same limited functionalities, as long as they have the matching pin setup on the hot shoe. If the newer models have 3 pin setups and not 2 (the Yashica 2xx AF models, or the Contax TLA-360/TLA280), they may not work as expected if the signal pin was moved to the opposite side. If that's the case, they might only offer manual operation, and nothing else.
