I discovered your forum last night. I've been collecting Yashicas for the last 20 years, starting with a YK rangefinder. I'm particularly interested in their older SLR cameras, like the Pentamatics, and first M42 cameras.

Welcome to the Forum -- where there is lots of discussion about Yashica -- and related -- cameras and lenses that you never knew existed. At least that has been my experience.

I'm particularly interested in their older SLR cameras, like the Pentamatics, and first M42 cameras. Welcome to the Forum! You'll find that we have members that between them can account for every M42 camera made by Yashica, at least 2 of the 3 Pentamatic models (not sure if we have anyone with a Pentamatic II), almost all of the lenses produced under Yashica's marque and most of the relevant accessories. If you have questions, there are few occasions when at least one of our Members can't supply a helpful answer. I hope you have a fruitful time with us on the Forum.

I have a Pentamatic (the first model) unfortunately without a standard lens - an m42 to Pentamatic adapter and a Pentamatic T mount allow me to use lenses on it. I also have a Reflex 35 J, and a J-P. The most numerous cameras in my collection are Prakticas, from a second series Praktiflex, to later L series cameras.

The good news is that the Pentamatic 5.5cm f1.8 lens appears quite often on Ebay and as there are few adapters available to allow it to be used on DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, the prices are not too steep. Unfortunately, the other Pentamatic lenses appear less frequently and tend to be priced high. But bargains can be found out there - a little perseverance is needed though. The Pentamatic glass is worth the effort as all of the lenses are good performers.

I have a Super Yashinon-R 13.5cm f3.5 lens, in Pentamatic mount. I don't use ebay - the postage to New Zealand, where I live, is pretty steep. I keep an eye on a local auction site (Trademe), but very little in the way of Pentamatic gear appears there.
