While searching for a source for 15v 504 batteries, I ran across this:
I thought some one might be interested -- and/or share something about its history.

Hi there, There's not much to say really; it does what it says on the outside of the box... EE w Flashcube AdaptorLuckily you can still get hold of old flash cubes and those 15v batteries. The capacitors that were included over half a century ago seem able to go on charging for ever so there's no reason they can't continue to work. You pop the flash cube in, connect the cable and fire away - the cube's rotated each time manually. It certainly takes one back to the 1960s...

By the time flash cubes entered, the 35mm Konica II rangefinder and folding fan bulb flash I used kept me at a distance from most things from the cartridge era, beyond snapping some holiday shots with the family's Instamatic. I recently bought an EZ-Matic that has a standard cold shoe and would probably be an equally good candidate to use one of these flash adapters on to keep it all 'in period'. I'd assume the flash is rebranded, but no idea which model or manufacturer it might be. biggles3 can confirm with his, but from the photos of the ebay adapter, it seems to use the thumb wheel to turn the cube after each firing. I wonder if most of the cube adaptions of the time had to be spun manually when they weren't built into a camera body to easily get a mechanical linkage. And... US suppliers for 15v 504's: Batteries In A Flash -and- Amazon. I've had good luck with Loopacell's LR, button, and CR styles, with a couple of LR52 duds from Excell, but they're good otherwise. I do have a couple of bulb flashes that use the same battery, but I haven't yet been tempted to try using them.

lumiworx is of course quite correct about the use of the wheel to rotate the cubes on this adapter. I've amended my text to correct my comment - a classic case of more haste and less speed when typing!

There were a some cameras where the flash cube needed to be turned manually, and some where the turning acted as the film advance -- such as the Lure, Blick, Love, and X2.
